Eric Ward's "ST IVES"
Eric Ward's pictures continue the best traditions of the St.Ives school of painting exemplified by the great artists of the past, among them, Borlase Smart, Louis Grier, John Park and Julius Olsson.
Like them, his passion is for the everyday scene, the harbourside, the beaches, pubs and public places, captured on canvas with an immediacy that at once is accessible and captivating. As gallery owner, Leon Suddaby has put it: "He simply painted exactly what he saw and loved: The female figure in all it's guises, and still life, and many harbour and sea views depicting all manner of boats and weather conditions. I quickly realised that here was an artist that not only painted what he wanted but what other people wanted as well."
