CONTEMPORARY ART AND ARTISTS IN CORNWALL
Cornwall has long been recognised as a centre for artists, rivalled only by London. For successive generations of painters and sculptors have made Cornwall their inspiration and their place of work.
This book brings the story covered in the authors previous two works, The Shining Sands and Painting the warmth of the sun, up to date and looks at the twentyfive years or so since the deaths of Barbara Hepworth, Bryan Winter and Roger Hilton. The first part of the book examines the legacy of those artists who cast the longest shadows: Ben Nicholson, Hepworth, Peter Lanyon, and those who formed the spearhead of Abstraction in Cornwall.
The second part of the book looks in detail at those artists who figure most strongly in Cornwall today.
